Merck KGaA has started to elaborate on some of its contributions towards the relevant SDGs, and what kind of progress it has achieved. For example, with regards to SDG 2: Zero Hunger, Merck KGaA reports on its Su-Swastha project. Led by Merck KGaA’s Consumer Health business, this project aims to increase access to suitable, quality healthcare products at affordable prices and to empower patients in Indian rural areas through advocacy and awareness where there is a shortage of specialists, doctors and surgical services. Through this project, Merck KGaA aims to directly reach underserved rural patients and provide them with access to health solutions which meet their needs, including over the counter products such as vitamin and food supplements, treatments for diarrhea, and cold medications. In January-September 2015 alone, the Su-Swastha project reached out to 15,432 patients, held 44 health camps, and met with 213 village heads.

Novo Nordisk has a public position on the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The company is committed to systematically reviewing its contribution to each of the 17 Global Goals and as a healthcare company it will put special emphasis on health and improving the wellbeing and life of patients.
